COUNTRY PROFILE:

Rwanda is a landlocked country surrounded by Uganda in the north, Tanzania in the east, Burundi in the south, and DR Congo to its west and northwest. Kigali is the capital city and business centre of Rwanda. The official languages in Rwanda are Kinya-rwanda, French, and English. Despite the civil war and genocide of the 1990’s, Rwanda is now the most secure country in Eastern and Central Africa. TRAVEL INFORMATION

There is reliable air and road transport between Kigali and the major cities and towns in East and Central Africa. Air travel to Kigali from outside East Africa is often routed through Nairobi. Kenya Airways and Rwandair Express have daily flights between Nairobi and Kigali. Other Airlines flying to Kigali from various African destinations include South African Airways and Ethiopian Airways. Just in case you are traveling from/to Europe SN Brussels lands thrice a week. ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS

Flats and houses for rent are available in Kigali City and the rent ranges from $400 to $800 for a 3 bed room furnished house which can be shared, the price might vary from what has been mentioned depending on the status and location of the house. The cost of food in Kigali is reasonably low, and with self catering a budget of $150 per month is sufficient. The cost of food in restaurants on campus is about $2 per meal. MEDICAL INSURANCE

VISA AND STUDY PERMITS

International students wishing to study in Rwanda must obtain visas from the Rwandan embassy in their country. Otherwise, temporary visas can be obtained at the Kigali International Airport upon arrival. Students must immediately obtain a study permit and visa upon registration. For this, they have to fulfil all visa requirements for Rwanda, which shall be provided with the letter of admission.
